After living through the last five years of learning how and what to eat, I have come up with a fairly simple formula. You should cook your food as little as possible, eat a wide varity of different kinds of food as possible and do not eat any processed food. I have learned that you should look at all supplements with a jaundice eye and figure they are going to hurt you more than they help you. Basically I do not believe in supplementation and I would eat your food as raw as possible.
I'm not reccommending raw meat for people but I know many people that eat it seared just like shushi and find that it does improve their health. I am one of these people and it has helped me immensely. I had a serious shoulder problem for over a year. I knew I needed rotater cuff surgery. I could not lift 10 lbs over my head and within six weeks of eating seared buffalo meat I can now lift 70lbs over my head 12 times. The improvement was dramatic and my shoulder no longer bothers me. I now work out every morning and my muscle structure has changed deamatically for the better. The improvement was too fast and too dramatic for it not to have been the raw meat.
I can not recommend it for my fellow man because if there is any adverse problems I will be in deep poopoo. I will continue to eat it myself because I have nothing to lose. I will try to keep you informed as to my progress but so far it has been wonderful. It has been way beyond my exspectations. I know it helps my muscles but now I need to see what it does for my liver, so far it seems to be helping.
It only makes sense that raw meat is healthy for your pets because they are made up of muscle, tendons, bone, etc. Raw meat possesses all the protein, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, co-enzymes and cofactors neccesary to produce a healthy body. If you cook it you lose most if not all the healthy factors envolved in developing a healthy body. The only thing your left with is the protien and it is gradually denatured depending how much you cook it. In dog food it is cooked in a pressure cooker to the point of sterilization, what do you think is left.
Cooking nevers makes food healthier it only makes it safer but it only makes it safer for you not your pet. Our pets have evolved eating raw contaminated food. Their digestive system is set up for handling this type of food. I'm not recommending contaminated food but if it happens your not likely to be in trouble. I have never witnessed a dog die of salmonela, e. coli, or any other bacterial contamination. I am not saying it can not happen but I know it is rare. After all we have all witnessed dogs eat shit and they do not die. I see many more life threatening problem associated with commercial dog and cat foods. I am recommending raw because I know it is healthier than what is out there because of what I have witnessed and experienced.
As far as your pets diet I would not cook anything. They evolved eating raw food and without a doubt it is their healthiest diet. I would add a natural source calcium to their diet such as raw bones. Stick to feeding as close to natural as possible and keep it raw. You can supplement them with you left over food but make sure you give them more raw meat than your cooked food.
